Artwork Statement 作品簡介 
 
As he grows older, Alan Chan finds himself increasingly drawn to the character Śūnya, the notion of emptiness. It is not a void of nothingness, but a space defined by what surrounds it—a cavity, an aperture, a pause.This paradox of presence and absence resonates deeply with his own journey of collecting, creating, and letting go. 

Since 2024, Chan started calligraphy.Writing with acrylic and paint brushes on raw canvas instead of traditional ink on paper, Chan skillfully delivers Chinese characters with vigour and agility. His brushstrokes capture his emotions through the interplay of space and substance. 
 
隨著年歲漸長，陳幼堅發現自己愈發被「Śūnya」──空的概念所吸引。這並非虛無的空洞，而是一個由周遭所界定的空間──一個空穴、一道開口、一段停頓。這種介於有與無之間的矛盾，深深呼應了他在收藏、創作與放下的生命旅程。 

自2024年起，他開始書法藝術，不以傳統墨紙創作，改以壓克力顏料與畫筆在畫布上書寫，以敏捷而富力度的筆觸呈現漢字。筆勢之間，空與實相互交織，情感於筆端流動，於留白中顯影。 
 
 
About Artist 關於藝術家 
 
Alan Chan (born 1950, Hong Kong) is a designer, a brand consultant and an artist who has built a wide portfolio of over 1,000 brands, and won more than 630 design awards locally and internationally with his company in the past 56 years.The ‘Oriental Passion Western Harmony’ design philosophy initiated by Alan has been well-recognised by the international design scene and has brought immense influence to young designers. In 2017, he was honoured by Hong Kong Design Centre as the World's Outstanding Chinese Designer. 
 
陳幼堅（1950 年生於香港）集設計師、品牌顧問及藝術家於一身，在過去 56年廣告及設計生涯中，他參與過的品牌設計項目逾 1,000 個，帶領公司榮獲本地及國際設計獎項逾 630 個。他獨特的「東情西韻」設計風格鮮明，深受國際設計界推崇，為年輕一代設計師帶來深遠影響。2017 年他榮獲香港設計中心頒發世界傑出華人設計師獎項。
