Artwork Statement

A home-use document scanner becomes a slit-camera and a brush of light. Dragged across an iPad that mirrors a computer-based digital sculpture, the scan line records motion, delay and glare, folding screen time into print time. The bands are guided by a machine-learning visual score—derived from digitised study notes and ECG traces processed with word-embedding methods. The distortions are time written as form: what remains after the update is the trace of care.

About Artist

Wong Chun Sunny is a Hong Kong–based artist working with cameraless photography, document-scanner performance and algorithmic image-making. His projects transform photographs and scanned materials into tactile digital prints, treating the scanner as a moving line of light. He explores how images and identity survive—through archiving, re-reading and care—in a world of constant updates.
