Artwork Statement
Coexistence centers on a bonsai clinging to a natural stone, meticulously cultivated by my father for sixteen years. Over time, the tree and stone formed an unbreakable bond, symbolizing harmony amidst difference. After tree withering, I preserved its form through cleaning, cooking, drying, sealing, and coating, reinterpreting it in a contemporary style. The sixteen loops of hemp rope encircle the base, symbolizing memory and inheritance. Sparkling points of light on the branches reflect like constellations, reminding people that vitality and spirit continuity. The work blends nature and craftsmanship, tradition and modernity, East and West, emphasizing that respecting tradition and accepting differences, nurturing new possibilities.
